Welcome to the 2017 MLA Annual Conference! This year’s theme is Radical Librarianship - the power of libraries to provide access to the truth, strengthen our community voices, create opportunity for exploration and innovation, and assist our patrons to build a better future. Libraries have always been radical, but what does Radical Librarianship mean for us today? Join us at the 2017 MLA Annual Conference to help shape that conversation!

Sign up or log in to save this to your schedule and see who's attending!

How do you turn a small library into a Makerspace? Looking at Victoria Library in Carver County we will show how we developed a small space as a makerspace with a focus on programming and the physical space itself. For Programming we will look at how we used the 3D Printer, Vinyl Cutter, Green Screen, and MinecraftEdu server in our programming. Discussion will include the decision making process of what programming to offer, community needs, trends, curriculum building, and implementation of the programming. For the actual physical space, we will show how we created it to be a Makerspace of all kinds. From movable equipment and furniture, using upscale and not so upscale equipment to teach and program with; how to create a playful and fun environment through passive intelligent design; and how to engage your community through the use of your space.
