Welcome to the 2017 MLA Annual Conference! This year’s theme is Radical Librarianship - the power of libraries to provide access to the truth, strengthen our community voices, create opportunity for exploration and innovation, and assist our patrons to build a better future. Libraries have always been radical, but what does Radical Librarianship mean for us today? Join us at the 2017 MLA Annual Conference to help shape that conversation!

Creating a culture of collaboration with 3D printing

Sign up or log in to save this to your schedule and see who's attending!

As we've expanded our 3D printing and design support at the College of Saint Benedict/Saint John's University, we have formed strong collaborative relationships across departments and into the local schools. The teacher preparation program is one such collaboration. Elementary education majors are utilizing 3D printing to learn the engineering design process and how to integrate this technology in schools. Our team of digital media specialists, information technology, librarians, and faculty works together to enable elementary education students to develop prototypes and turn them into 3D printed objects. After learning the process and technology, the pre-service teachers teach this technology to elementary students incorporating learning standards in engineering and life sciences. This session will highlight the process, the success, and the challenges of this collaborative project.
