Welcome to the 2017 MLA Annual Conference! This year’s theme is Radical Librarianship - the power of libraries to provide access to the truth, strengthen our community voices, create opportunity for exploration and innovation, and assist our patrons to build a better future. Libraries have always been radical, but what does Radical Librarianship mean for us today? Join us at the 2017 MLA Annual Conference to help shape that conversation!

Planting the Seeds of Learning: The Library as a Nature Based Learning Center

Sign up or log in to save this to your schedule, view media, leave feedback and see who's attending!

The learning and health benefits of connecting children and families to nature are well documented. The Minnesota Children & Nature Connection wants to encourage libraries provide opportunities for exploration, learning, and play to spark curiosity in the outside world. We recently surveyed librarians in the state to find out what's working and what's not in connecting communities to nature based learning. We'd like to share the results of our survey and provide some tools to help you more easily integrate nature based collections and programming at your library. We will showcase success stories highlighting resources, creativity, and collaboration with community partners from Minnesota libraries. Whether you're just getting started or are interested in expanding your nature based services, we'll have something for you to increase nature based literacy, environmental stewardship, and build a better future for the community and the planet.
