Welcome to the 2017 MLA Annual Conference! This year’s theme is Radical Librarianship - the power of libraries to provide access to the truth, strengthen our community voices, create opportunity for exploration and innovation, and assist our patrons to build a better future. Libraries have always been radical, but what does Radical Librarianship mean for us today? Join us at the 2017 MLA Annual Conference to help shape that conversation!

Practical Strategies for Digital Literacy Outreach

Sign up or log in to save this to your schedule, view media, leave feedback and see who's attending!

Digital literacy outreach changes depending on individual community needs. For example, the Rochester Public Library visits senior living spaces with a team of university students who work as tech assistants; the James J. Hill Center blends business development with digital literacy, teaching people to use specialized databases; and at Leech Lake Tribal College, the library encourages workforce development by offering computer classes to tribal employees. In this session, sponsored by the Reference & Adult Service Subunit, hear from a panel of public, tribal, and special librarians about the strategic steps they've taken to build digital literacy outreach services for adults in their communities
