Welcome to the 2017 MLA Annual Conference! This year’s theme is Radical Librarianship - the power of libraries to provide access to the truth, strengthen our community voices, create opportunity for exploration and innovation, and assist our patrons to build a better future. Libraries have always been radical, but what does Radical Librarianship mean for us today? Join us at the 2017 MLA Annual Conference to help shape that conversation!

Learning is For Everyone! Making staff-wide training a reality

Libraries provide access to many resources: databases, public access technology, reference, reader's advisory, and much more. How do you make sure all library staff receives consistent training so they can assist the public? All-staff development days are a great way to get lots of staff trained but take time and money. What if you could provide timely, relevant, and on-demand training to build the skills of all your staff, regardless of their position? The presenters have each implemented training programs that work for staff and don't break the bank. Elizabeth Proell did this through a monthly, web-based "Question of the Month," Cindy Purser and Lisa Motschke took the analog approach and have provided staff-wide training through a monthly "Learning Opportunity." The panel will present the process for implementing the training programs, discuss what they've learned, and show how they plan to move forward with their mission of "Learning for All."
